Open Technologies Engineering, Key Point Group, and NRU MPEI Discuss Workforce Challenges in the Data Center Industry

On May 27, a roundtable discussion titled “Workforce Development for Data Centers” was held at Dubna State University. Representatives of Open Technologies Engineering, Key Point Group, and the National Research University “MPEI” took part in the event to discuss current issues related to training specialists for the data center industry.

The discussion focused on the industry's key workforce challenges, including the shortage of specialists for the design, operation, and maintenance of data centers, as well as the gap between employers’ competency requirements for graduates and existing educational programs. Participants explored promising formats for collaboration between universities and industry and outlined areas for further cooperation in workforce development for data centers.

As Anna Shestakova, Head of Digitalization and Innovation at Open Technologies Engineering, noted: “We are already seeing strong results from the Data Center Department established at MPEI, which makes it especially encouraging that a similar format has attracted the interest of Dubna University. The industry needs specialists who understand the real-world processes of data center operations, and industry-sponsored departments help build a direct connection between education and practical experience.”
