Open Technologies Engineering and NRU “MPEI” Open New Data Center Training

On the last day of June, Open Technologies Engineering hosted the grand opening of a new training classroom at its headquarters, launched as part of the “Data Centers” department. The event Classroom was attended by Vladimir Zamolodchikov, Vice-Rector of the National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" (NRU MPEI), and Evgeny Virtser, CEO of Open Technologies Engineering.

The “National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" (NRU MPEI)s” department was established at the Institute of Energy Efficiency and Hydrogen Technologies (IEEHT) of NRU MPEI with the support of Open Technologies Engineering. Its instructors — active industry professionals — have already conducted the first sessions with students, offering insights into the key aspects of data center operations and career opportunities in the field. This initiative marks a significant step forward in the collaboration between MPEI and Open Technologies Engineering, giving future specialists access to relevant knowledge and hands-on experience right within the company.

Speaking about the department’s future, Evgeny Virtser emphasized that the true measure of the project’s success would be growing student interest:

“The more students choose to come here, the more confident we’ll be that we’re on the right track.”

A key principle of the new classroom is fostering open dialogue between students and instructors. Vladimir Zamolodchikov noted:

“It’s crucial to create an environment of open communication — where students feel free to ask even the most challenging questions and receive thoughtful answers. That’s the foundation of effective learning. Instructors will present complex challenges, and students will be encouraged to find creative solutions.”

During the ceremony, guests were invited to leave words of encouragement for future students. The event concluded with a guided tour of the company’s offices, where the Vice-Rector met MPEI graduates who had successfully completed internships at Open Technologies Engineering and are now continuing their careers with the company.

The opening of the new classroom represents another important step in bridging education and industry — giving MPEI students a competitive edge in today’s job market.
