Power outage in Primorsky Krai did not affect Key Point Group data center operations

On August 16, a large-scale power outage occurred in Primorsky Krai due to an equipment malfunction at the Primorskaya State District Power Plant (SDPP). The outage was caused by damage to the 500 kV outdoor switchgear at Primorskaya SDPP, which triggered the relay protection and emergency automation systems. As a result, several 500 kV lines in Primorsky Krai were disconnected. The local train transit was suspended; there were issues with mobile communications; traffic lights did not work, many accidents were recorded, and over 1.8 million people experienced no power supply.

Thanks to the high level of fault tolerance in the data center built by Open Technology Engineering for the Key Point Group in Vladivostok (a Tier III certified facility), the outage did not impact its operations. The data center continued to operate as designed, ensuring the security of customer data.

The data center is equipped with guaranteed and uninterruptible power supply systems. In the event of disruptions in the urban power grid, it can seamlessly switch to backup sources.

Two sets of three parallel-operating diesel generator sets (DGs), each rated at 0.4 kV and equipped with an automated start system, serve as the guaranteed power source for the two process modules. The uninterrupted power supply of the data center's technological modules is provided by 8 uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) of 500 kVA each.

The data center continues to function as designed.
